Project Summary

Despite the existence of active entrepreneurs in Kigoma region and initiatives by the government, vulnerable women with (disabilities, albinism, chronic illnesses and those who are at risks and with multiple vulnerabilities) they face challenges of limited and lack of protection support and development of their entrepreneurship initiatives, due to their vulnerability , they lack access to the opportunities that can enhance the development of their economic initiatives in line with their vulnerability. In the context of promoting inclusion and protecting vulnerable women against the different forms of violence the DMP-T plans to reach 37,250 vulnerable women In coming 5 years from the 5 districts in Kigoma regions using the following interventions: capacity building sessions, training, awareness workshop on their abilities and their capacities, ability determination, marketable skills development, networking , exhibition & learning events and direct start up and material assistance in order to develop their entrepreneurship in relation to their ability,capacity

Problem Statement

Despite the existence of active entrepreneurs in Kigoma region and initiatives done by the government, vulnerable women with (disabilities, albinism, chronic illnesses , those who are at risks and with multiple vulnerabilities) they face challenges of limited protection , lack of support for their entrepreneurship initiatives, due to lack of access to the inclusion and development opportunities of their economic initiatives. They face discrimination, violence, dependency syndrome making them more vulnerable and less protected. There are more protection risks and limited opportunities to access community based services such as economic, social and employment opportunities. In Kigoma region many interventions are directed to the refugees and less focus to the host community vulnerable. The situation highlights that no basic resources such as budgets to support protection activities, inclusion and economic initiatives for vulnerable women.Therefore in the context protection and developing their economic initiatives, promoting inclusion and protecting vulnerable women against the different forms of violence the DMP-T has proposed project to reach 37,250 vulnerable women in coming 5 years from the 5 districts in Kigoma with following proposed interventions: capacity building sessions, training's, awareness workshop on their abilities and their capacities, marketable skills development, exhibition & learning events and direct start up and material assistance in order to protect and develop their economic initiatives which will be based on the abilities , interest and capacity as an approach in order this will promote their abilities to engage and run activities thus development their economic initiatives and preventing them from discrimination and violence.

Solution Overview

DMP-T plans to implement the following activities :conduct ability determination survey for the target groups , document economic initiative , capacity and interests . Project Launch and awareness workshop on vulnerabilities, capacities and abilities , this will be followed by capacity building sessions, training sessions and marketable skills development in the skills training centers and others by hiring consultants to training vulnerable groups of related conditions and interests . development of individual or group business ideas and plans followed by review by the committee and recognition of role models with the realistic business plan.Provision of direct start up capacity ( cash ) and material assistance in order to develop their entrepreneurship initiatives which will be based on the abilities , interest and capacity as an approach in order this will promote their abilities to engage and run activities thus development their entrepreneurship initiatives and preventing them from the forms of violence.Monitoring of progress of activities in each stage and holding quarterly project review meetings and data analysis on progress. preparation of monthly acclivity , quarterly , semiannual and annual reports .There will be disability mainstreaming workshop and support to the community based structures and disabled.The interventions will be held in sequence so that to allow better results for each stage as they are interconnected for all the project period and at the project there will be project evaluation by the M&E team and External facilitator.the project the project will reach 37,250 vulnerable women from 5 districts of Kigoma ( targeting 7,450 individuals each year).
